Backflip Cliff Jump on Bali

“13 meters” is written into the concrete jumping platform.

Just jumping off this facing forward used to TERRIFY me. I don’t think I even did it the first time I came here. There’s a lower jump too, about two thirds as high, and even THAT one used to terrify me.

There used to be a ladder hanging down into the water which made it easy to get back up the cliff. Now there’s no ladder, which means you have to wait for a day with no swell, and climb up on sharp scraggly rocks.

It’s doable — my 5 year old son does the lower jump and climbs the rocks with my help —  but since the ladder’s been gone it’s very rare to see anyone jumping here.

This is around the corner from where we run the VysionQuest Bali Retreats. (There’s a friendlier cliff jump that we do on the retreats.)
